What Dog Would Work Best In A Townhouse With A Chihuahua?

I have a two year old spayed female chihuahua and I would like to have a friend for her. I had a cat for a few weeks, but sadly, I had to re-home her because I discovered I was allergic. The dog has to be under twenty-five pounds, but I’d like to branch out from a chihuahua. What would be the best breed (or combination of breeds) that would fit under twenty five pounds and would be good for a smaller environment?

bichon, mini poodle, papillion, maltese, Pomeranian.
These are all great little dogs. The bichon would be easy on your allergies too. Make sure your chihuahua is up for having a buddy. They can be very clannish, it may not like the new dog.

My first impression is to say another chihuahua. We currently have two chihuahuas and they are the best of friends. They are about a year apart and they get along very well.
I would also recommend a dachshund.
