What To Do For Dog With Runny Stool / Diarrhea For 4 Days?
Dec.08, 2009 in
Dog
My dog has had runny stool for 4 days (no sign of blood), more like water now. He shows no other symptoms, no vomiting or other flu like symptoms. He still has good appetite, happy and playful (runs like wild chasing his ball and playing with other dogs). No change in diet, stopped all treats but no improvement. Any ideas?

4 days of watery diarrhea is too long. I hope he is drinking plenty of water because he will dehydrate very quickly and you don’t want that.
If he is being fed twice a day miss one meal and then feed him only boiled chicken and well cooked (overcooked) rice. No treats, nothing but chicken and rice.
If that doesn’t fix it within 24 hours then you need to take him and a specimen of his feces to the vet. He obviously has a parasite or bacterial infection.

You should consider buying a bottle of Canine Plantaeris as it is a natural, herbal supplement for treating diarrhea in dogs. http://www.petwellbeing.com/dog-diarrhea…
Dog diarrhea is a very common problem, and has many causes. Often, it’s a result of mild food poisoning from eating garbage (or other bacteria-filled treasures your dog has found while off leash).
What to do right away
Try to figure out what caused your dog’s diarrhea. If he’s eaten something highly toxic, get him to a vet immediately.
Ensure your dog is taking in fluids, to fight off dehydration.
Get a healthy, effective remedy like Canine Plantaeris.

i would highly recommend seeing a vet. The first problem is dehydration. Obviously its something serious if he has had it for 4 days! Just ask for some medication. They will give you something called metronidazole, its a antibiotic that will stop diarrhea. Its not expensive. Another thing you can do to prevent this in the future is give him natural yogurt once a month. BUT HE NEEDS TO SEE A VET ( i work at a animal hospital believe me)

If diarrhea is the only symptom and it goes away within a day or two, it’s likely that your dog simply ate something he shouldn’t have.
But if he has any other symptoms, such as vomiting, loss of appetite, or lethargy, if there’s blood in the stool, or if the diarrhea is chronic, there may be a more serious problem. If you observe any of these symptoms, definitely contact your vethttp://dogtime.com/dog-diarrhea-wsu.htmlhttp://dogtime.com/treating-diarrhea.htm…

my dog had the same thing ( about 3 days though) i gave him a little pepto (1.5 tbsp- he’s a pitbull so if your dog is smaller, give him/her a little less) by the 4th day he was fine. LOTS OF WATER AND TLC and your dog should be fine. if it has been more than 5 days, take your dog to the vet. hope this helped. good luck!

Go to vet.. it could be the food. or it could be worms or anything. parvo usually has vomiting so probably not that but your dog needs vet after 4 days. pumpkin helps but not if source is not treated.

Canned pumkin (not pie filling, Natural stuff). It works wonders. I give it to my dogs all the time when they have runny stool. It works in no time. They love it.
